Leonardo Bonucci believes Juventus ‘win the Scudetto with results like this’ after fighting back twice for a precious point against Atalanta.

Duvan Zapata and Ruslan Malinovskyi had put Atalanta in front twice in Turin, but a pair of Cristiano Ronaldo penalties for handball allowed them to claw it back for 2-2.

“It’s always tough to play against Atalanta, we all had to sacrifice ourselves for the team. I didn’t train for a few days due to a heel issue, but it was too important for me to be here,” Bonucci told DAZN.

The Bianconeri are now eight points clear of Lazio, nine ahead of Atalanta, while Inter can catch Lazio in second if they win tomorrow.

“The squad won this point, it’s an immensely-important point and the spirit we need all the time. This was crucial, we tried to win and didn’t get there, but keeping Lazio and Atalanta at a distance is already important.

“Now we have to recover our energy, because on Wednesday against Sassuolo it’ll be just as difficult. They too play a very energetic style of football, so we’ve got one after another.”

Atalanta had won nine consecutive Serie A matches until this draw and dominated the first half.

“We knew that if we didn’t move the ball quickly, with one or two touches, we’d struggle against Atalanta. They were so fired up and we struggled at the start, but kept our heads and waited for the right chance.

“What we need to look at tonight is the result and you win the Scudetto with results like this. We can’t make calculations yet, we can’t take our foot off the gas until we are mathematically champions.”
