Polish legend Zibi Boniek feels he deserves the prestigious star that Juventus gave him to commemorate the 50 best players in the club's history.

A section of the Bianconeri's supporters have reacted angrily to his recognition partly because Boniek criticised the club after Calciopoli.

Interviewed in Tuttosport, Boniek said: "I have heard about this unrest and it has upset me a lot because the reason for it is ridiculous.

A section of the Bianconeri's supporters have reacted angrily to his recognition partly because Boniek criticised the club after Calciopoli.

Interviewed in Tuttosport, Boniek said: "I have heard about this unrest and it has upset me a lot because the reason for it is ridiculous.

"I apparently showed 'little gratitude', but to who? I always gave everything on the pitch for Juventus. I never saved myself for anything.

"Andrea Agnelli sent me a letter asking me to be one of the stars at the new stadium and I am honoured. It's not like everyone who ever played for Juventus should also have to be a Juventus fan.

"It's great also to be faced with different opinions. I know what I did for Juventus and, if the fans don't want me in the new ground, I'll just say that you can't erase history.

"I have never spoken badly about Juventus. I criticised someone who in the past behaved badly towards me. I remember that I was a fans' favourite. Banners were unveiled like 'Zibi forever'.

"If I had something against anyone, it was only with the people who ruined Juventus' image.

"I am sure that one day in the future when Marotta & Co leave, no one will have to clean the image of this club again."
