Daniele Bonera insists that Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has not rushed his decision to play with a three-man defence.
The Rossoneri are now using a 3-4-3 system after trying a variety of shapes so far during their problematic 2012-13 campaign.
“The Coach wanted to try the three-man defence some time ago,” stated the stopper. “He had already spoken to a few of us about it a while back…”
Milan returned to winning ways against Genoa on Saturday after three straight losses and a week-long training retreat at Milanello.
“That retreat was an advantage to us,” Bonera insisted. “It allowed us to take a lot of components into consideration.
“We certainly didn’t view the retreat as a punishment, we saw it as a way to get out of our delicate moment.
“The game against Palermo will now tell us who we are.”
The Diavolo play the Rosanero at the Stadio Barbera on Tuesday.
