Daniele Bonera feels the break for international duty “has been good for Milan” after their post-Juventus controversy.

The last few days have been dominated by talk of refereeing errors in that 1-1 draw, while many of the squad then left the camp to play for their countries.

“The break was good for Milan, as it allowed us to get some important figures closer to full fitness,” Bonera told Sky Sport Italia.

“This season we have often had to play with many first choice players out of action, often whittled down to an emergency situation.

“The break has not distracted us from our next matches. In fact, I’d say it helped, as we have been able to prepare perfectly for the game with Palermo.”

Bonera is expected to start this weekend, as Philippe Mexes is suspended with Alessandro Nesta and Mario Yepes still carrying injuries.
