Giacomo Bonaventura has expressed his delight at finding himself at Milan, and has dreams of making Antonio Conte’s Italy.

The winger was a deadline day mover to the Rossoneri, even when at one point he seemed more certain to move to city rivals Inter.

“It was a very busy day, at 3pm it seemed I was going to Inter, then it seemed Verona, and finally at 8.30 I was told that I had to Milan,” Bonaventura has reflected today to Milan Channel.

“I thought I was leaving before, at one point, I then thought I was staying in Bergamo, but it was a happy ending.

“To meet with Galliani and talk to Berlusconi on the phone are moments that I will never forget.

“And Inzaghi? If I am here then it is thanks to him wanting me. I want to learn so much from him and his desire to win.

Atalanta are a team that I will never forget, and going from being a youth there to Milan is a credit to them.”

Bonaventura reflected also on his first impressions at Milan.

“It was all positive, I am at a great club. At Milanello everyone has welcomed me very well, some I already knew, so for now everything has been positive.

“My objective is to make my quality available to the team to help achieve its goals.

“My role? I can play both as a midfielder and a winger. At Atalanta I often played on the wing in a 4-4-2. For my characteristics in the 4-3-3 I can play as a half-winger or outside forward.”

The 25-year-old was asked about the number of fellow young Italians moving abroad, and also of his hopes at adding to his one Italy cap so far.

“If I had received a call from abroad then maybe I would have gone, but I am happy that I am in Italy. I hope to do well with this shirt and if so then I might also get into the national team.

“It would be a dream to go to the European Championships, but then everything comes from the performances with Milan.

“They are a great team and so I have to do well with this shirt.”
