Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo predicts Bologna will play a direct game tomorrow but that “can’t change my approach”.

“Genoa played a very direct game,” Giampaolo said, reflecting on Sunday’s derby.
“They played on rebounds and second balls. We have to expect that from our opponents, because the mid-ranking teams have to take advantage of the opportunities which present themselves.

“We need to be good at anticipating this kind of game, I expect that from Bologna too: a team which plays directly and on second balls.
“We’ve been working on that all week. The fact a team plays long can’t change my approach, Romulo’s strike in the derby game from a defensive lapse.
“We’ve had several scrappy situations which gave our opponents these opportunities. I want my team to play clean, that’s not something I’ll give up.
“Bologna know how to play certain games, they make games more direct and they’re good on the counter-attack.
“This is a game where we’ll need to have patience, we’re facing a team with their own motivations.
“They don’t pass or dribble too much, they rely on being direct and solid. They have excellent options on dead balls.
“This is a team that must be tackled in an intelligent and careful manner.”
