This is only Claudio Ranieri’s second game in charge of Sampdoria and he opened with a 0-0 draw against Roma.

“We expect him to use a 4-4-2 formation, but regardless of the system, we’re sure they will be balanced and solid. We’ll need patience and at the same time an enterprising spirit to break them down,” De Leo said in a press conference, filling in for Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“We know it’s a difficult game, but we have to win. It’s important that we continue to work with our tactical principles and improve all over the pitch, in every area. We believe that creativity and attack is the best path to success. We recognise the talent in our squad and need to make more of it.”

Gary Medel, Mattia Destro, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mitchell Dijks are still out of action.
