Bologna have confessed they would've signed Emiliano Viviano from Inter were it not for a paperwork howler. “We were rushed for time.”
The Rossoblu had beaten Inter's bid in the blind auction by €600,000 to sign the remaining 50 per cent of his contract, but director general Stefano Pedrelli filled out the form incorrectly, so the Nerazzurri won by default.
“With a perfect strategy, Bologna had managed to capture Viviano. Then you all know what happened,” director Salvatore Bagni told Tele Radio Stereo.

“I am an admirer of Pedrelli and am not angry with him. These are things that those outside the market atmosphere cannot understand.
“With 10 minutes left, we had to fill out three different blind auctions. We were rushed for time.”
It was widely reported that Bologna had a deal in place to sell the Italy goalkeeper to Roma.
“It's not true that there was already an agreement. Everyone thought we'd dropped Viviano, but the truth is we wanted this player.
“That's how it went, so we'll try to get an equally important goalkeeper. I think Viviano secretly wanted us to win too, as we haven't heard from anyone at Inter. It's a shame knowing we were right about the strategy and would've won.”
