The Felsinei had been in accelerated talks this week with the Chinese outfit coached by Marcello Lippi, over a proposed transfer for their 30-year-old playmaker.
Whilst reports soon indicated that Diamanti had agreed terms of a €4m-a-year, three-season deal, it emerged yesterday evening that negotiations between the clubs had broken down.
Based on the belief that the two parties could not agree terms of payment on the €9m-rated transfer, Bologna have now confirmed that they have broken off talks, releasing an open letter to Guangzhou Evergrande’s President Liu Yongzhuo.

“First of all we thank you for your kind interest in the player Alessandro Diamanti; unfortunately we have to inform you that due to the non acceptance of our requests related to the agreement, we are forced to stop the negotiation,” read Bologna’s letter, posted in English on their official website today.

Meanwhile it had been suggested that Bologna’s plans should they have lost Diamanti included a move for Juventus reserve striker Sebastian Giovinco.
However, an initial approach of a loan for the 26-year-old, report Calcionews24, was turned down by the Bianconeri.
