Zvonimir Boban’s criticism of Milan after their 1-1 draw with Sampdoria on Sunday resulted in a war of words with Rossoneri Coach Pippo Inzaghi.

Former Milan and Croatia midfielder Boban is now a pundit for Sky Italia and he did not hold back in his condemnation of the Diavolo.

“The problem with Milan is that they have truly mediocre players,” Boban said on Sky.

“It’s almost impossible to make a team with these players – I can’t understand what they offer.

“It’s almost impossible to make a team with these players – I can’t understand what they offer.

“Also Inzaghi doesn’t have a great game plan, but it’s hard to make them work together, very hard. It’s a bit chaotic, it’s very difficult.”

Inzaghi responded to the comments soon afterwards and diverted criticism away from his players.

“We watched two different matches, it seems. If [Sampdoria Coach Sinisa] Mihajlovic had swapped benches for the second half, Boban would have said that we played well.”

The outspoken Croatian then hit back to the Milan Coach’s statement.

“In the first half you played well, but they were very poor. No? Well then, you have a unique and extraordinary style…

“Tonight I realised the true value of this Milan squad, to be satisfied after a match like this is really difficult.”
