The former Lazio midfielder found the net with a snapshot in today’s 4-0 victory away to SPAL.

“I am happy, as the first six months have not been easy,” Biglia told Mediaset Premium, Sky Sport Italia and Milan TV.

“I got injured straight away, then had pain in me knee and kept having to stop. A player like me needs to play consistently or he’ll never find form.”

The arrival of Gattuso in place of Vincenzo Montella also seems to have given them a boost.

“From the first minute, Gattuso put into our minds his way of experiencing football. In every training session, he makes us go beyond our limits and we never have a moment to relax.

“He and his staff are forming a real team mentality. We have so much hunger and enthusiasm now, he is bringing out the confidence in the side and that makes the difference. We do everything at 100 per cent.

“I thank Gattuso for believing in me during a dark period.”

Biglia also hit out at some who criticised his transfer from Lazio.

“I get compared to Andrea Pirlo, but I cannot live up to that, nor am I the same type of player. I try to bring balance to the team and know my own limitations. I am getting on a bit now, but I am trying to overcome my limits.”
