“I know of the interest of Brazilian clubs, also because my contract is ending,” Bernard told Lance.
“It runs until the middle of next year. It’s a delicate moment, I have a contract with Shakhtar until the end of the year, and I’ll give them the chance to talk to me, but I can’t close doors, especially to Brazil.
“I’m happy with the interest but we’ll see what Shakhtar think, what’s offered, and then if the conditions aren’t favourable for me and the club then I’ll sit down with other interested teams and see what the best option is.
“This is a delicate moment in which there can’t be mistakes. We need to sit down and talk, analyse every aspect.
“I’m 25, this could be the contract of my life, or my career. Generally contracts are four or five years, so at the end I’d be 29 or 30. So for that reason above all it has to be well thought-out.
“There’s interest from European clubs, a lot of them are taking an interest. The main thing for me is to stay focused, then maybe stay at Shakhtar, go back to Brazil or go to another team in Europe.
“We’ll only know later, and hopefully it’ll be the best choice for me and wherever I play. The negotiations are very secret, not least to avoid mistakes.
“Right now I can’t say which teams have come to me and what the final result will be.
“There are several leagues in which not only I, but every player would like to play: the Premier League, the Spanish League and the French one, where there’s always a lot of investment.
“These three leagues are very strong, have good visibility and are suitable for showing off my football.”
