Silvio Berlusconi has jokingly referred to tonight's match between Milan and Napoli as one against the South of Italy.

The two sides meet at San Siro in what is being billed as a title decider.

Naturally it has evoked memories of the epic battles between Napoli and Milan in the mid to late `80s.

Speaking at a meeting of the Chambers of Commerce, he turned to Carlo Sangalli and apparently said: "We'll see Milan beat the South."
