Silvio Berlusconi has defended Milan’s decision to hire Clarence Seedorf this season and hinted he may still remain beyond the summer.

The expectation is that the 38-year-old will be sacked after this weekend’s closing League fixture as despite a recent upturn in form, Europa League qualification may not be achieved and the Dutchman’s relationship with club management is seen as having broken down.

However, Milan President Berlusconi has defended the decision to bring in Seedorf back in January and suggested he may still have a future at San Siro.

“Signing Seedorf in January was not a mistake,” Berlusconi has told Radio 24 today.

“He could stay, as long as he reaches an agreement with the club over his position. We will decide with the board after the game with Sassuolo.

“We thought we had all the requirements in place for him to be a good Coach.”
