Real Madrid confirm Karim Benzema picked up a thigh injury, with speculation he’ll miss the Roma game.

The French striker went off at half-time during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, and it has now been confirmed that he is suffering with a hamstring injury.

“Following the tests carried out on Karim Benzema at the Sanitas la Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to his right biceps femoris,” a statement on the Spanish club’s website announced.

“Following the tests carried out on Karim Benzema at the Sanitas la Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to his right biceps femoris,” a statement on the Spanish club’s website announced.

“His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

While Madrid haven’t given an estimated recovery time, AS expects Benzema to be sidelined for two to three weeks.

That would see him miss the second leg of the Champions League Last 16 tie against Roma, though the Giallorossi are trailing 2-0 after the first leg.
