A statement was released by the club inviting media to attend at the Castel Volturno training ground on Thursday at 12.00 UK time (11.00 GMT).
De Laurentiis had said this evening that there would be “a surprise in the next day or two.”
It’s likely this will be announcing Benitez’s departure, as he is widely expected to sign for Real Madrid.
