Former Napoli and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez paid a visit to the Partenopei before tonight’s Champions League clash at Anfield.

It kicks off at 20.00 GMT and both teams have already qualified for the Round of 16, while Luciano Spalletti’s side will be guaranteed top spot as long as they don’t lose by four clear goals.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Benitez looked in on the Napoli side in their hotel this morning and spent a couple of hours chatting to the squad and staff, including coach Spalletti.

As is tradition, representatives of the two clubs then had lunch together, with the Liverpool directors doing the hosting honours.

Benitez was in charge of Liverpool from 2004 to 2010, when he left for a brief experience at the helm of Inter.

He returned to Italy for Napoli in 2013 and completed that stint in June 2015.

During his time with the Partenopei, Benitez won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.
