Rafael Benitez has admitted that Gonzalo Higuain could be fit enough Marseille tomorrow night.

The Argentine striker missed the Partenopei’s 2-0 loss to Roma on Friday evening, but the Spanish Coach has claimed that his star centre-forward could well feature in the Champions League clash.

“It’s an important test for us,” he told a Press conference. “It’s going to be a good atmosphere in Marseille.

“Pipita has trained and worked well. I will talk with him and the doctors to understand his condition – so I’ll sleep on it and decide.

“Marseille are a strong team with some dangerous players so we’ll have to be at our best.

“It was said that this was the Group of Death. It is certainly a difficult group. Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are strong teams. I think the next two games will be decisive.

“I won twice here with Liverpool and remember a spectacular goal from Torres. It’s the sort of stadium that brings the best out in players.

“We have a strong team with a lot of character. I am convinced that tomorrow we will show that on the pitch.

“It will be important for both teams to win, and we will make sure the result goes our way. Marseille have lost three games in a row so it will be even more difficult for us.

“They will want to show they can win the game, but we will show our determination.”
