With around three months of the season remaining, the Azzurri sit third in Serie A, are in the last 32 of the Europa League and this week take on Roma in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.
“I picked Benitez to win,” De Laurentiis told reporters. “But many people need to understand that you cannot win immediately.
“It is also difficult to do it without a stadium and a healthy youth structure.
“We are working towards both of these things.”
The fillm producer was speaking at the presentation of his latest work, ‘Sotto una buona stella.’
“Would I prefer the Coppa Italia final or a blockbuster film? I would prefer both,” he commented.
