Andrea Belotti admits Roma ‘lacked the right attitude and it was not a physical issue’ in the Europa League defeat to Slavia Prague.

This was a head-to-head for the precious top spot in the group, which would mean direct qualification for the Round of 16 without going through the play-offs.

However, after a 2-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico, they were beaten by the same scoreline in Prague.

“I think we lacked the right attitude on the field today and we should’ve done better both with the ball and without it,” Belotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did little in the first half, Slavia were always first to every ball and at this level that is a big problem. I don’t think it was a physical issue or one of fatigue, I just think we had the wrong attitude and it really showed.”

Now not only are they joint top of the group with Slavia Prague, but Servette came back from 2-1 down to beat Sheriff, leaving a four-point gap from third place.

It is the worst way to prepare for this Sunday’s Serie A showdown with rivals Lazio.

“Now the objective is to be concentrated for the derby, but we ought to do that for every game. It’s a pity the game went this way, now we must try to put it behind us.”
