“I saw it again and, to be honest, I assumed the referee would award the penalty. In previous games, we’ve seen handballs like that always given as spot-kicks,” Belotti told Sky Sport Italia.
“It’s disappointing the referee this time had a different view, because that incident could’ve changed the whole game. We do have regrets about that, because I think it could easily have been a penalty.”
However, Il Gallo did take the positives from the setback, namely their strong performance.
"I am proud of what we done on the pitch, we fought from the first minute to the last, we must continue on this path because the season is long and if we play like this, we can do well.
"I liked the self-sacrifice [of the players], the desire to do something important on the pitch for Torino. However we need to improve our ruthlessness in front of goal."
Torino have lost six of their 11 games this season, their worst run since 2008-09, when the Granata got relegated.
