Belgium have called up Napoli forward Dries Mertens to their latest squad but left out Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Mertens has featured in all three of Napoli’s games so far this season, including a goal and assist in their Champions League playoff tie against Nice.

Nainggolan, meanwhile, completed Roma’s Serie A opener at Atalanta last weekend but is nonetheless overlooked by Roberto Martinez.

It is nothing new for the 29-year-old, who has been a bit-part player for the Red Devils since Martinez’s appointment a month after Euro 2016.

The former Everton boss is also on record as taking issue with Nainggolan’s smoking habit.

Elsewhere, Lazio left-back Jordan Lukaku is the other, Italian-based player in Belgium’s ranks.

Martinez’s side resume their 2018 World Cup qualifiying campaign against Gibraltar on August 31, before travelling to Greece three days later.
