Bayern Munich were in negotiations to sign Giuseppe Rossi, the Fiorentina player’s agent has revealed.

The Italian international joined the Viola in January from Villarreal, but only after a possible summer 2012 move to Germany collapsed.

“We were very close to concluding a deal with Bayern Munich,” Andrea Pastorello told Radio Blu. “Then everything fell through a few days before his second injury.”

Rossi hasn’t played a competitive game since October 2011 because of knee ligament damage. He suffered a relapse of the problem in April 2012.

The former Manchester United forward has now been given the green light to start full training and we may see him back in action before the end of the season.

“Giuseppe is finally out of the tunnel,” the representative continued. “Maybe there will be time for him to debut, but you have to consider that he has been sidelined for a year and a half.

“He really likes Florence, he gets on with his new teammates and he has settled in very well.”
