Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says Carlo Ancelotti “did not meet expectations” this season.

The Italian Coach was sacked by the German champions earlier today, following a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last night in the Champions League.

“The performance of the team since the start of the season did not meet the expectations we’ve placed on them,” Rummenigge told Bayern’s official website.

“The performance of the team since the start of the season did not meet the expectations we’ve placed on them,” Rummenigge told Bayern’s official website.

“The game in Paris clearly showed us that certain conclusions had to be drawn. This is what Hasan Salihamidzic and I said to Carlo in an open and serious discussion today where we informed him of our decision.



“I’d like to thank Carlo for his collaboration and express regret for the way things have developed.

“Carlo is my friend and will remain so, but we had to take a decision for the good of Bayern Munich.

“I now expect a positive development and high standard of performance from the team so we can reach our objectives this season.”
