Luigi Sorrentino, the agent of Musa Barrow, confirmed Napoli’s previous interest in the Bologna winger and suggested that his client is ‘ready to fight for bigger goals’.
The 24-year-old Gambian winger has been with the Rossoblu since January 2020, initially joining on loan from Atalanta before making a permanent move 18 months later for around €14.4m.
Barrow scored a disallowed goal in Bologna’s 1-0 win over Inter on Sunday and is continuing to quietly impress in Emilia-Romagna.
Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, Sorrentino first discussed if Bologna did Napoli a favour in the title race by beating Inter.
“I wouldn’t say so, 18 or 15 points the discourse was already closed beforehand! There is satisfaction on the part of Musa and his teammates for having played another great game, this time against a really strong team. Bologna now have what it takes to do well in the second half of the season.”
He confirmed Napoli’s previous interest in his client and touched on how exciting the move to Campania would be.
“As said in the past, Napoli had been looking for him before the arrival of Kvaratskhelia. Whether or not Musa’s name will now be of interest to the Azzurri again, I always hope so. We are talking about a club like Napoli, which today represent the top both in Italy and in Europe.
“They can even aim to win the Champions League. They are experiencing a moment of overflowing form, with Osimhen, Kvara and all their teammates on top. It is a dream for us to be able to imagine playing at Napoli one day. Then it’s clear, Musa is currently very happy at Bologna.”
Finally, Sorrentino suggested that Barrow was ready to start fighting for more important objectives.
“We are always ready for the leap, but then you have to keep your promises when you arrive. The quality, for goodness sake, is there at Bologna, but we feel ready to fight for bigger goals.
“Afterwards, it’s normal, you have to work hard to keep your promises.”
Since his arrival at Bologna, Barrow has made 114 appearances across all competitions, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists.
