Andrea Belotti is still waiting to score his first Serie A goal with Roma and needs to convince the club to keep him in the summer, something Salernitana are keeping a close eye on.

The 29-year-old Italian striker ended a seven-year association with Torino last summer after his contract expired and joined the Giallorossi on a free transfer, penning a one-year contract with an option for a further two years.

Belotti has struggled for consistent minutes under Jose Mourinho this season, starting just twice in Serie A and only seeing 956 minutes of action across all competitions. He’s found a little success in the Europa League, scoring three goals across seven appearances, and could play an important role in Roma’s fight for a top four finish.

As highlighted by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, it’s now up to Belotti to convince Roma to activate the two-year extension clause present in his contract. He’s finally started to generate a little form in the Italian capital and could be given more chances in Serie A.

His contract will be automatically extended if certain conditions – linked to appearances, goals and minutes – are met, but there’s no guarantees of this, putting the pressure on the 29-year-old.

In the background, Salernitana are closely following the situation and are preparing a convincing offer for Belotti, should Roma decide not to keep him in the summer.
