Frosinone Coach Marco Baroni describes the win over Sampdoria as a “fundamental victory”, and “liked the attitude of his players”.

Daniel Ciofani’s goal in the first half was enough to secure all three points for the visitors in a surprise win over Marco Giampaolo’s men.

That victory moves them to within two points of safety, and Baroni believes that it could prove to be significant in their battle to avoid relegation.

“I congratulate the players, we approached the game in the right way and we need these performances,” he told Radio Rai.

“We have to continue to work like that and for now we take these three points and the energy that comes with it.

“We lost against Lazio perhaps undeservedly, but we played this game with the right attitude. Today I liked the attitude of the players.

“We have to improve our management of the game but for us it’s a fundamental victory given the fixtures we have coming up.

“These are great games to be played with conviction and to continue to believe in re-opening something that appeared to be closed.”
