CEO Joe Barone has revealed that Fiorentina don’t want to play on Sunday and admitted that they are “still discussing” the proposed fixture list.

The postponed match against Udinese has been proposed for Sunday March 8 and the CEO has reacted to the suggestion.

Inter President Steven Zhang exploded when he heard about the proposed Monday night game against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium and Barone has revealed that Inter aren’t the only side unhappy with the new fixture list.

“I asked to have a meeting with the Lega immediately, not Wednesday but today or in any case as soon as possible,” Barone told Tiki Taka. “We received a PEC from the Lega at our headquarters with a proposal that we discussed and that we are still discussing.

“It’s still a proposal to be reviewed for Fiorentina. I have to deal with everyone inside the club, but we don’t agree.

“We have already been in Udine, ready to play and now we should go back for another three days because it’s played on a Sunday evening. There’s also the speech of the fans. Everyone who bought tickets.

“We didn’t participate today, and I have asked all to be there, to discuss this better. We must discuss on Wednesday. We will reply tomorrow morning but right now, Fiorentina are not ready to give the go ahead to play on Sunday evening.”

And the director has claimed that Fiorentina are ready to play behind closed doors, but only if all the other matches are played as well.

“First we have to think about health and then the fans who make sacrifices for the team,” he added. “Fiorentina went to Udine to play behind closed doors.

“If the League gives the go-ahead, we are there. But we can’t accept to play a game and the others don’t play. We must be treated the same and this is not the case for Serie A.

“We are sending out negative messages all over the world. I will go to the Lega on Wednesday because we need to bring Italian football back to the top.”
