While the Viola have reached the Coppa Italia semi-final against Cremonese and will take on Turkish side Sivasspor in the Conference League Round of 16, they are struggling in Serie A and hovering just eight points above the relegation zone.

“Italiano is our coach and we have the utmost faith in him,” Barone told DAZN.

“We work every day to emerge from this situation in Serie A and to get accustomed to playing every few days, seeing as we are in three competitions.

“The results in the Coppa Italia and in Europe have been positive, but in Serie A we need to improve, because we cannot keep being this double-faced team.”

Their recent form in the league has been particularly poor, scraping just two draws from the last six rounds, in which they scored three goals and conceded eight.

Fans have complained that Fiorentina struggle to convert their many chances into goals, especially with centre-forwards Luka Jovic and Arthur Cabral, while Jonathan Ikone, Riccardo Saponara and Christian Kouame are also far from prolific.

“In three competitions, our strikers have scored 25 goals, so apart from Napoli I don’t see many teams who have done better. We are still not happy, but we are working and will try to get a result today,” insisted Barone.
