The 21-year-old has been linked with the Rossoneri and Inter, among others, but opted to remain in Sardinia for another season.

“I really like Bonaventura and seeing him train while on international duty made me try to steal a few tips and tricks,” Barella told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“After the final whistle, I want to exchange shirts with Jack. This Milan side is an improvement on last season, they are not afraid to play the ball and fight it out with anyone.

“They have really absorbed Gennaro Gattuso’s mentality and added Gonzalo Higuain, who I think is one of the five top strikers in Europe.”

Barella could’ve been part of the Rossoneri revolution this term, but is also known to be a target for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

“Cagliari received offers and turned them down. I am happy to have remained with the club I support. If I had to choose between Serie A and the Premier League, I’d go for England, because I like the way they approach the game. Plus everyone there is just as irritable and prone to fouls as me!

“My dream is to get a nice house with a garden and a pool. And to meet Lebron James.”
