Inter are in negotiations to extend Lautaro Martinez’s contract and have reportedly also begun discussions to lock down Nicolò Barella.

The Nerazzurri are flying high four points at the top of Serie A with a game in hand following last night’s 1-0 win over rivals Juventus.

They are also working on the future to consolidate this squad and its star names, including Lautaro Martinez and Barella.

Both their current deals only run to June 2026 and Calciomercato.com assure that while Lautaro’s talks took the spotlight, discussions have also been taking place with Barella’s representatives.

He currently earns circa €5m per season plus up to €1m in bonuses.

The midfielder turns 27 later this week and was purchased from Cagliari in the summer of 2019 for €44.5m.

His value on the transfer market has doubled in that time and he has been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it would take something extraordinary for Inter to part company with the Italy international and there are far more likely players to be sold this summer, such as Denzel Dumfries and Kristjan Asllani, to raise fresh funds.
