Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi is widely considered to be the key figure behind Barcelona loaning Ansu Fati to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The former Sassuolo and Benevento boss has been a sensation in the Premier League, introducing his style of football to England, which has already been praised by Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Diario AS and more, De Zerbi is the main reason why Ansu Fati decided to join Brighton on loan.

Similarly, Barcelona also believe that working under the Italian will help the 20-year-old in his development.

The Spain international has two goals in nine senior caps, but risked dropping down the pecking order at Camp Nou this season, so it was decided he would go out on loan to get regular playing time.

There was also interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, but surprisingly it was Brighton who came out on top.

Fati plays primarily on the left side of a trident attack, but can also work on the right or as a centre-forward.

In 42 games in charge of Brighton, De Zerbi has overseen 21 wins, seven draws and 14 defeats, scoring 95 goals and conceding 67.
