The Catalans were strongly linked alongside Manchester United with making a bid for the Fiorentina’s winger, but at the close of the market, have distanced themselves from rumours.

Apart from revealing that Dani Alves’ contract that expires at the end of this season won’t be renewed, the club’s sporting director took questions on the reputed interest in the 26-year-old, rated by Fiorentina at €35m-€40m.

“I’ve never spoken about Cuadrado,” Zubizarreta commented to reporters.

“He is a great player with a great CV, who plays for Fiorentina and is a player to watch and to continue to follow.

“I am very happy with the squad, but I will not compare it with others.”
