The Argentine forward has a release clause of €111m, however it is only active for the first two weeks of July, similar to the clause former striker Mauro Icardi had in his contract.

Inter are reportedly working on renewing Martinez’s contract, hoping to remove the clause entirely.

Barca see the forward as the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez, who is 33 years old and has only 18 months left on his current deal with the club.

Martinez has scored 13 goals in all competitions for the Nerazzurri this season.
