Julio Baptista has waved goodbye to Roma with a move to Spanish side Malaga apparently imminent.

The Brazil international has never truly convinced Claudio Ranieri but is still held in high regard among the fans.

Speaking to Il Corriere dello Sport, he said: "I am a little sad on the one hand because I have not been able to give the best of myself in the last year for a number of negative circumstances. And this upsets me because I have always tried to help the team.

"I am leaving with a beautiful memory of the fans and their passion. I will never forget their happiness after my goal in the derby.

"It was a great emotion. We were coming off a difficult run. The results weren't arriving. Like now, Lazio were in front of us in the table. We played a great game.

"I scored a header. I remember the Curva Sud. The fans were crazy with joy," he concluded.
