Milan are confident Mario Balotelli will be fit and ready to face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League next week.

The striker was a doubt for Tuesday’s trip to Holland for the preliminary round tie because of a knee problem.

“Balotelli should be able to make it,” Vice-President Adriano Galliani told Sky Sport Italia. “His knee is improving and boss Massimiliano Allegri has told me that he should play.

“Milan are in fine form both physically and mentally. I saw the side play in the United States and we seemed to be in good shape, now we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Galliani was also asked for an update on the club’s pursuit of Keisuke Honda, the midfielder who is only contracted to CSKA Moscow until the start of 2014.

“The situation is very clear,” the transfer official explained. “He’s made his decision and he has informed his club of that decision.

“But CSKA are in charge of his contract. If they want to give him to us then we’ll sign him in August, if they don’t – which is in their rights – then we’ll sign him on a Bosman in January.

“The market will close on September 2, but the more time passes and the less interest we have in the deal.

“But you never know, this is football.”
