“I’m not the kind to give moral lessons or education, if I need to do that I do it with my own children,” Balotelli said in a video published on his Instagram page.

“We’re at the stage though, where I’m asking you to listen to me. What happened recently, I want to say with this pepper spray, is absolute bull. Absolute bull, is that clear?

“It's not funny, and it's not a joke. As well as being an illegal weapon, there’s nothing funny about it.

“Find other forms of entertainment and joy. People have died and at your age you should be doing other things – go to school, play a sport, date a girl… let go of this nonsense.”

The stampede in Turin during the 2017 Champions League final is also thought to have been caused by pepper spray, with one person killed and around 1,500 injured.
