Adriano Galliani said Mario Balotelli’s exit was “in the interests of the player, of Milan and of Liverpool.”

The £16m (€20m) transfer is set to go through on Monday or Tuesday and Coach Pippo Inzaghi also noted losing the striker is not a bad move.

“Mario’s departure was a decision made in the interests of the player, of Milan and of Liverpool,” CEO Galliani told MilanNews this afternoon.

Galliani had a lunch meeting with Inzaghi, during which he took the ALS ice bucket challenge, and is expected to meet Torino President Urbano Cairo for Alessio Cerci tonight.

“The lunch with Pippo went well and now we’re going back to the hotel to talk. A striker is the priority now, as we are looking for a Balotelli replacement.”
