The Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that Mario Balotelli has been included in Time magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2012.

The Milan and Italy striker, who was featured on the publication’s European edition cover in November, has been selected in the Icon sector of the magazine’s countdown.

The January signing will fly out to New York on April 23, with club Vice-President Adriano Galliani and agent Mino Raiola, to attend an event organised by Time.

Balotelli, 22, is widely considered as one of Italy’s most promising players and is set to be a key man for his country at the 2014 World Cup.

The former Inter youngster, eight goals from 19 caps, has also scored seven goals in seven games for the Diavolo since his switch from Manchester City.
