Mario Balotelli denies being caught speeding, and says “I love Naples and Neapolitans”.

Some Italian outlets claimed today that the Nice striker had been caught doing 200km/h in his Ferrari, something the Italian international completely denies.

“Since doing 200km/h on the motorway is a criminal offence, it’s not true,” Balotelli said in a video message on his Instagram.

“It’s been reported by some jealous people, I don’t know what [they’re jealous of], maybe the car but the truth is that it was a routine check and I went on my way calmly.

“Italian newspapers are always rubbish, they never check whether something is true or false. Italy never changes, I’m happy in France.”

Balotelli will face Napoli in the Champions League play-off, and he sent a message of love to Naples.

“I love Naples and Neapolitans, I’m always sorry to face them as an opponent.”
