Davide Ballardini could be set for another return to Palermo, if they sack Eugenio Corini.

The Rosanero are currently 11 points from Serie A safety, and the axe is handing above Corini.

According to Sky, sporting director Nicola Salerno wants to keep hold of the former midfielder, but President Maurizio Zamparini is keen to fire him.

If Corini is given the bullet, it’s believed that Zamparini’s first choice to replace him is Ballardini.

The Coach started the season at Renzo Barbera, but left after just two matches.

If he returns, it would be his fourth spell in Sicily, having been appointed, sacked and re-hired last season; following his first tenure which ran from 2008 to 2009.

However, Ballardini’s contract was rescinded when he left earlier this year, so Palermo would have to work out a new contract with him.
