Franco Baldini confirms Daniele De Rossi could be fined for his derby dismissal, but Roma stand by Zdenek Zeman.

The 3-2 defeat to Lazio has further dented public support for the under-fire Coach, but they played the entire second half with 10 men after De Rossi was sent off for punching Stefano Mauri.

“The club’s position is clear, as in these cases players can be fined based on how long they are going to be suspended,” noted director general Baldini.

“I spoke to Daniele before the game and he wanted to do well, so was really determined to achieve a positive result. Perhaps seeing Lazio fight back to go in front brought this reaction out of him.

“Are we considering offers for De Rossi? Nothing has changed compared to the summer. I have always said that there is no need to sell Daniele and we do not want to sell him.”

There were also rumours that Miralem Pjanic had shouted insults at Zeman after scoring a goal, as he has so often been dropped this season.

“Pjanic was not angry at Zeman. This squad is made up of over 22 players and everyone has to compete for a place. The lad clarified the situation and there is nothing to discuss.

“It is normal that someone has to be left out and that they will react to it, as they care about the cause. Pjanic is an exemplary professional.”

Roma have now lost five games, drawn two and won four – plus the 3-0 victory against Cagliari” data-scaytid=”56″>Cagliari assigned by the authorities.

“We should underline the positives from today as well,” insisted Baldini.

“The team gave its all today and almost completed a remarkable comeback. Without doubt there have to be improvements when defending, but overall these are situations were individual errors cannot be used to judge Zeman.”
