Alessandro Bastoni has been ruled out of Inter’s upcoming match against Udinese due to injury.

The 23-year-old Italian centre back did not take part on the Nerazzurri’s painful 2-1 defeat to Bologna yesterday, remaining on the bench for the entire 90 minutes. It was hoped that the rest would allow him to return quickly, but this has not been the case.

As announced by Inter, Bastoni underwent an MRI at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano this morning, which showed a muscle problem in his left calf. He’ll be monitored on a daily basis, but he will not take part in the upcoming match against Udinese.

The Italian defender has made 41 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3192 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal, provided three assists and helped the side keep 19 clean sheets. He is one of Inzaghi’s most trusted players and is contracted to the club until 2024.
