Atalanta defender Jose Luis Palomino has been acquitted at the National Anti-Doping Court today, reports detail.

The 32-year-old Argentinian defender has been suspended since the summer, when he tested positive for a clostebol metabolite during a surprise check by Nado Italia. Clostebol is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid that is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency and so Palomino was suspended pending trial.

As reported by ANSA, the National Anti-Doping Court has acquitted Palomino in the trial, making him available to return to the Atalanta squad following his four months on the sidelines.

The 32-year-old’s contract expires with Atalanta at the end of the season and it seems unlikely to be renewed. The Argentinian defender has made 203 appearances across all competitions for la Dea since arriving in 2017 from Ludogorets.

Palomino was at risk of receiving a two-year ban and will be overjoyed with the confirmation of his acquittal. He expressed to the media last week his confidence that everything would be resolved.
