The Stadio Azzurri d’Italia in Bergamo, which will be renamed the Gewiss Arena, is undergoing restructuring work and won’t be ready in time to fit UEFA parameters.

They had already played their Europa League home fixtures at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio-Emilia, the venue used by Sassuolo, and that had been the assumed arena for the Champions League too.

However, according to Radio Dea, Atalanta have asked to move their ties to San Siro, which is after all closer to Bergamo than Reggio-Emilia and already accustomed to hosting Champions League fixtures.

Because Milan were excluded from Europe this season due to Financial Fair Play issues, it means only Inter will be using the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza midweek this season.

However, the suggestion has drawn the ire of Rossoneri fans online, who urged their club to reject the proposal.
