Atalanta director Giovanni Sartori denies that Aleksei Miranchuk is on the verge of a transfer to Torino. ‘We believe in him and his moment will come soon.’

The former Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder is unhappy at the lack of playing time in Bergamo since his €14.5m move in September 2020.

So far this season, the Russia international has made only eight competitive appearances in Serie A and the Champions League.

Atalanta sending Miranchuk to Torino

There were reports in Calcionews24.com and Tuttosport that Miranchuk was on the verge of a move to Torino, on loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season.

“Miranchuk has been linked with other Serie A clubs, but we have not spoken to anyone about him for now,” Atalanta director Sartori told Itasportpress.

“The club believes in this player and he has so much quality. His moment will come soon, we are certain, because he’s a serious professional and a fine player.”

Miranchuk had more time on the field during his first campaign with Atalanta in 2020-21, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 31 competitive games for the club.

Turning 26 last month, he has six goals in 40 senior caps for Russia.

  1. I understand that we want to keep Miranchuk but we can only sign Boga if we ship out Miranchuk. Besides, he doesn’t play much of a role in matches and hardly plays. I hope he is sent on loan.
