After Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno decided against the move, Atalanta have now reportedly offered €12m including add-ons for Verona centre-back Isak Hien.

La Dea picked up Emil Holm from Spezia today and had hoped to add Buongiorno to their squad as well, but the Italian resisted the idea of leaving his beloved Toro.

Instead, Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia note that Atalanta have turned towards Verona by bidding €12m including bonuses for Hien.

Curiously, Torino had also been closely tracking Hien as their primary alternative if Perr Schuurs was sold this summer.

The 24-year-old Sweden international joined Verona from Djurgarden last summer at a cost of €3.2m.

He has made two appearances so far this season in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, but was sent off in the 2-1 victory over Roma.

At the same time, Caleb Okoli is in talks for a loan move to Frosinone.

Hellas are surprisingly joint top of the Serie A table along with Napoli, Milan and Inter, the only clubs to still have a 100 per cent record after two rounds.
