Atalanta remain adamant that midfielder Teun Koopmeiners is not for sale, although Napoli are still hopeful of bringing the Dutchman to the Stadio Maradona this summer.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Napoli have been monitoring Koopmeiners since time at AZ Alkmaar, who he left to join Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in 2021.

However, Napoli’s interest in Koopmeiners revolves around the future of current midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

The Partenopei are said to be planning for a scenario without Zielinski. The Pole is into the last year of his contract, which expires in 2024, and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia before the end of the current transfer window.

Napoli are also working on getting Zielinski to sign a new contract according to Di Marzio, but the Saudi interest still exists.

If Zielinski were to sign off on a new deal, then the arrival of Koopmeiners would become less of a priority, but if Zielinski does leave, then the Dutchman would remain as the top target.
