According to recent reports, Atalanta have been in conversation with Bundesliga side Mainz over a potential deal for versatile midfielder Anton Stach.
As per Gianluca Di Marzio’s initial report, Atalanta are in contact with Mainz, but have not yet submitted any sort of formal proposal as of yet.
Stach has one year remaining on his current contract, although that deal does include the option for another season.
The 24-year-old, who stands at 6’4” in height, is best known for his abilities as a holding player sitting just in front of a back-four, but has also more recently been deployed in a two-man midfield in Mainz’s preferred three-at-the back system.
Stach has made 30 appearances for Mainz in each of the last two Bundesliga campaigns for a total of 60, chipping in with a goal in each season. He also notched four assists in the 2022-23 season.
He has also earned two caps for the Germany national side, claiming the first as a substitute in a friendly against Israel in March 2022. His second came in the 5-2 Nations League win over Italy in the Nations League in June last year.
