Both Turkey and Germany are hoping to convince Juventus teenager Kenan Yildiz to play for their national sides at senior international level according to reports from Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday evening.

The 18-year-old has represented Turkey at U17 and U21 level, but was born in the Bavarian city of Regensburg. His father is Turkish and his mother is German, meaning that he is eligible to represent either nation.

Romano reports that Turkey are considering handing Yildiz a call-up in the near future, hoping that he will commit his long-term future to the national side. Germany are also said to be ‘monitoring’ the youngster’s progress.

Yildiz joined Juventus last summer on a free transfer from Bayern Munich upon the expiry of his contract with the Bundesliga giants.

He has impressed with the Next Gen squad since then, and has been involved with the first team all summer.

Yildiz earned his first competitive minutes for Juve with a five-minute cameo appearance from the bench in the Bianconeri’s opening game of the 2023-24 Serie A season against Udinese on Sunday.

It is believed that Juve are also trying to tie the highly-rated youngster down with a new contract, as his current deal expires in the summer of 2025.
